Nineteenth Century

19th century conflicts are growing in popularity at GDWS, mainly through the use of the Principles of War rules.

Following a period of relative peace at the end of the Napoleonic wars the European continent indulged in a series of conflicts including the Crimean War the Franco and Austro-Prussian Wars.

The American Civil War remains a popular period with Fire and Fury rules being used in addition to PoW.

And finally colonial wars including campaigns in India, Zulus in Africa and the Dervish in Sudan.

On a more romantic note than is usual for wargames society, the poet Lord Byron ended his life fighting for Greek independence. This is conflict is covered in the scenario Onwards to Mesolongi! recently gamed at the society.
