Napoleonic The wars of Napoleon are one of the most popular periods at GDWS. Most Sundays you will find the Emperor's armies facing one of his historical opponents. On our full weekend sessions several large scale campaign games have been organised involving over a thousand wargame figures. This year was Vittoria 1813. Whilst a number of rule sets have been used the period is now dominated by Principles of War (PoW) using 15mm figures. A knock out competition has been organised some years as well as historical campaigns. Napoleonic PoW is usually fought as a Corps level battle with units representing three battalion regiments or brigades.
Not all games are based on the well known European campaigns. An interesting 'what if' scenario based on an Anglo Russian invasion of Ali Pasha's territory in modern Greece The Lion Bites was refought at the society.
