Game of Thrones

Claymore 2018

Introduction
This is a participation game based on the popular TV series and books by George R.R. Martin.

Scenario
Low level conflict is a feature of Westeros. House Lannister and House Stark compete for control of the Riverlands. A convoy, including a former mistress of Tywin Lannister, guarded by troops from House Tully, is proceeding along the River Road from Riverrun to Lord Harroway’s Town. You are Tywin Lannister and need to recover your mistress, primarily because she has information about the secret passages into Casterly Rock. Your objective is to capture the convoy and escort it off the table. You heavily outnumber the Tully forces, but don’t waste any time. Rob Stark has heard of your plan and is on his way to support his Tully allies.

The rules are adapted from Lion Rampant, written by Daniel Mersey. The character figures are from the Dark Sword range with the main forces converted from Lord of the Rings and other 28mm ranges. There is also a new tabletop miniatures game ‘A Song of Ice & Fire’.

Rules
  • Start by rallying any battered units by passing courage test. If fail retreat
  • Choose a unit you wish to activate.
  • Decide what action you want it to undertake – move, attack or shoot.
  • Roll two dice, if total is equal to or higher than score needed - carry out the action

Shooting and attacks:
  • Foot archers can shoot 18”, but -1 over 12”. Horse archers 12”
  • Roll 12 dice, 6 if at or below half strength.
  • Equal or better your shoot/attack value is a hit.
  • In attack, rough terrain reduces attack and defence values to 5+ and armour 2.
  • You will need 3 or 4 hits to remove one strength point from the enemy
  • Cover increases armour by one.
  • Loss of strength point causes a courage test.
  • If both units still in contact after courage tests the unit that lost most strength points retreats, or if equal the attacker.

Courage:
  • Roll two dice and subtract 1 for each strength point lost in the game.
  • Leaders within 12” add +1.
  • If equal or better courage score – no effect
  • If fail, but final score more than 0 – retreat half speed and battered. If 0 or less rout
